An indoor swimming pool is a wonderful leisure and exercise environment, but there are many important factors to consider when planning and designing a pool.
Even when you cannot see it, moisture in the form of water vapour is all around us in the air. The humidity in the air, if not controlled, will cause corrosion, mould and bacteria growth. When left unchecked, moisture damage in swimming pool buildings causes major structural damage.
Dantherm dehumidifiers cleverly convert the energy locked up in the moisture into heat used to heat the room. The free heat recovered by dehumidification is not only “green”, but it accelerates the drying process, keeps the boiler off for longer, reduces the evaporation from the pool and creates a warm dry environment.
Dantherm dehumidifiers are exceptionally efficient, recovering the latent energy that is contained in the moisture and delivering it back to the pool hall in the form of heat.
Using a Calorex dehumidifier minimises the need to introduce and heat the cold outdoor air into the pool hall to dehumidify, which can be costly.
Available as wall mount, floor standing or through wall models (TTW), for installation outside of the pool hall, the Dantherm range of dehumidifiers also offer air heating via LPHW (low pressure hot water) or Electric Resistance Heating. The dehumidifiers within this brochure are subject to a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty, plus they are supported by a nationwide network of service engineers.
Every indoor pool needs a dehumidifier. High levels of humidity left unchallenged can be a major problem in an indoor pool environment. Water evaporating from the pool or spa surface increases air humidity, and can eventually lead to mould, structural damage or collapse.
The Dehumidifiers from Dantherm offer an efficient and economical solution for every pool.
Wall mounted dehumidifiers will allow you to control the moisture in your pool hall for a much lower capital cost than larger ducted systems.
Dantherm offer a range of size to suit most sized swimming pools, however we would recommend that you speak to us so that we can make sure you purchase the correct unit for your needs. We have an indepth knowledge of supplying and installing all types of dehumidifers and can offer you independent advice from across our range.
One benefits of opting for the DH range is they offer a range of units with different functions. This means you will not need to buy a function you wont need, which will help to keep your price low.
All of the Dantherm DH Dehumidifiers are Air to Air Heat Recovery units that use heat pump technology to remove the moisture. All units are fully automatic and have a built in humidistat. The unit will recirculate the air across a cold coil that condenses the moisture out of the air. Heat will then be recovered back to the pool hall air, reducing your heating cost further.
A comfortable humidity level for an indoor swimming pool is 60 to 65% RH (Relative Humdity).
The Dantherm DH Range are available in three sizes, the smaller size unit such as the 35 models remove upto 3 litres an hour. Whilst the larger 65 and 120 model can remove upto 6 litres per hour and 12 litres an hour.
All models have defrost mode as standard. The defrost will de-ice the unit so that it can continue to function correctly.
Heat is very important within a pool hall to help keep the humidity under control. Which is why the Dantherm DH is available with two air heating options.
LPHW heater coil means you will need to connect your Dantherm DH to a boiler, the boiler will need to deliver low pressure hot water on demand. This demand is signalled by the temperature stat, which is included. It is the same as a standard home heating thermostat. Your installer will have to set up a simple zone valve. More details can be found in the installation guide. You can download this from the resources tab above.
The other type of heating available is a standard electrical restistance heater coil. This is an excellent option if you cannot get the required LPHW pipe to the unit. Obviously the LPHW system is cheaper to run as gas is cheaper per Kw/hr than electric unless you have solar PV on your property.
Full model list and product codes are below.
The beauty of these new Dantherm DH units are they are very easy to install, and most importantly fit like for like for the old Vaporex range. Infact you can even use the old mounting bracket if you prefer. Some of these models will run off a standard 13 amp supply, electrical heating versions require a larger supply. Please check before purchase or call us. You will then have to route a condensation pipe to waste. Never run the condensate back into the pool as this could be a health risk.
As with all electrical equipment within a pool hall this will need to be installed to the latest regulations. These are 240V so must be installed with safe zones or distances from the pool or spa water. This can mean they are installed at high level. You can download the Guide from our resources tab alternatively call us for a chat.
If you pool hall is fairly small, and these safe distances are a problem then you may have to consider the Through The Wall Option. This is basically the same model range with the same performance, however they are mounted in an adjacent room. Just the air intake and return grilles will be seen in the pool hall. The Through The Wall Option can often look neater as all that will be visable are the two grilles. White plastic grilles are supplied as standard along with a wall duct kit. We can supply replacement grilles for all through the wall (and all other Dantherm/Calorex) dehumifiers. We can supply any RAL colour POA.
All Dantherm DH Dehumidifier units are supplied with a comprehensive 2 year parts and labour warranty. The Units are made in Germany to the highest standard.
